oh sh*t.

10.26.2008

i may have just had my first true "oh sh*t." moment. in the middle of the incredibly lame and retarded megaman cartoon...VILE APPEARS. with really no preface or reasoning. with spark mandril. and then megaman x. but still. totally caught me off guard, and totally awesome.
don't watch this cartoon though.

also this series has the somewhat infamous gutsman's ass.

fort thunder.

10.24.2008

possibly the coolest place i'll never go, thanks to it being destroyed. fort thunder was a warehouse commune sort of place filled with found objects, noise and experimental artists of all mediums, and lots and lots of bicycles. check out some of the youtube videos of it as well. its pretty insane.

twin goddesses.

10.20.2008

worst game ever? or best game ever?

Twin goddesses.

The planet of peace Loveradiant is a great distant from earth. No boundaries exist in this small united kindom. It's king, King Loveradiant III, reigns over his kindom in quiet tranquility from his beatiful castle that is surrounded by rich trees and lakes. He loves his country and all its people and they in turn workship their king.

King Loveradiant III has twin daughters, the eider Nina is very affectionate and the younger Syllin is a woman of great spirit. Their mother, queen Joanna, died suddenly after giving birth to her twin daughters. The king had always tried to compensate for this loss and had given his daughters an abundance of love.

One day the happiness in the kingdom is shaken when six eerie lights suddenly appear and attack the Loveradiant castle. They are the wicked lights which emanate from the evil witch Carmilla and her entourage of five man. Their aim is to forever take peace away from the land of Loveradiant.

Carmilla strikes down king Loveradiant III and her venomous energy instantly enguls the whole land in darkness. The castle is now under her power. She designates one man to guard each of five floors and settlers herself on the sixth floor, the highest in the castle. She enjoys looking down on the people and watching as their characters change to reflect hatred and jealousy.

The almighty god Zeus watched this entire incident from on hights. He reacts by bestowing the powers of Love and Courage to the two grieving princesses with which they set out to conquer the evil witch Carmila.

"You are the only ones that can save Loveradiant" he tells them. "Arm yourselves with Love and Courage and defeat Carmila. Go on Nina! Syllin!"

HANATARAAAAAAAAAAAA.

10.16.2008

hanatarash(i) is one of the early projects of boredoms [frontman?] Yamantaka Eye. it basically consists of drums and Eye's violent efforts against inanimate objects, i.e. glass breaking, wall smashing, barrel hurling etc. notable for their dangerous live shows, including cutting a dead cat in half with a machete, attatching a circular saw to his back and almost cutting off his leg, which there is apparently no evidence of anywhere on the internet, and driving a backhoe through a wall at a concert.

personally i can enjoy hanatarash, particularly the album hanatarsh 3 because it contains quite a bit more actual music than the others. i can't find a download for it at the moment.

so.

10.09.2008

ive decided where i think game developing should go. i think there should be a massive reversion of the entire industry. famicom should be reinstated. start all over with the process, so as to add the creativity we have now with the deprivation of currently conventional tools and systems so developers are forced to use a different system to build upon their creativity to create a great game within the constructs of 8bit. then as things progress, we can start moving further and further towards where we are now. then whamo. just like that movie i can't remember now. for a lack of remembering, we'll say g-gundam. we've forgotten where we came from, left the earth to ruin whilel we play in space. actually thats most gundam. just more progressive. regardless. its time we challenge developers to return to their roots. it just ocurred to me that this is sort of thing was sort of mentioned by itagaki(dead or alive, ninja gaiden), who i genuinely appreciate, for frankness and boob physics. regardless. i really think this is a valid plan for developers. set up a new nes hardware based system in a new case, make cheaper more creative games, build on from there. no it wont happen, but it sure would be interesting.

so apparently...

they're going to release sin and punishment 2. eight years after the original. regardless, this is totally awesome news. by far my favorite n64 game and one of my all time favorites ever, i am now really looking forward to this game. heres to hoping they don't mess it up.

for those of you who don't know, sin and punishment was a 3rd person ran and gun sort of game where you controlled one player who could move left and right and jump, but was automatically moving forward. at the same time, you had to utilize two shot types, lock on and free aim, as well as a sword that you used by tapping z rather than holding z to shoot. an awesome game, with really great design. the last boss fight lets you destroy composite earth. this game has been getting more coverage lately, as it was rerelease on the virtual console service for the wii. highly reccomend you get that if you don't have the real copy like i do.
